Volkswagen Prague Marathon and NUTREND: for the first time and great!
More than 8000 fans and lovers of run gathered at the start of Prague International Marathon in the historic center of Prague. For the first time sports nutrition at refreshment station was in charge of NUTREND.
"For all athletes at refreshment stations were ready to drink UNISPORT ion drink. During so high performance and in conditions where temperatures have risen much above 20 degrees ion drink was very important," explained Veronika Hrušková, manager of NUTREND. "We very much appreciate the fact that we are at such great event as the Volkswagen Prague Marathon is. Full cooperation preceded hours and hours of negotiations and I believe that now after the event both sides say that the change was definitely for the better."
News for all runners was also clear instructions on how to use sports nutrition during the race. "Our advices are based on the experiences of many experts and athletes we work with. On the recommendations for marathon mainly participate Miloš Škorpil, who has years of experiences and knows what athletes need, "said Kateřina Gálová, nutrition consultant.
This year's race which for the first time in its history received a gold mark IAAF Gold Label Road Race, was strained from the beginning. Once the first shot rang and everybody make a dash for the track leading through the historic center of town, crowds of spectators already knew that today are part of something special. And indeed it happened, when Lydia Cheromei broke the race record by almost three minutes.
In the men's race won Benson Barus in time 2:07:07, making him the first time managed to break his personal limit 2:08. Although the first half of the race a group of 14 runners passed together in a time of 1:03:47. From 30 kilometer was clear that the final battle for victory will be fight between Kenyan runners. Barus at the 39th kilometer attacked the leading
runners and soon he was before Kenneth Mungarou and Samuel Kosgeiem. At relatively high temperatures Mungara ran in his 38
years in his personal best time 2:07:36, while Samuel Kosgei showed his great talent when he finished at time 2:07:47.
Czech team also showed up in a great fig. Between man ran the fastest time Peter Pechek in time 2:18:28, which beat his personal record. Among women confirmed their perfect fig Radka Churáňová when cross the finish line in time 2:53:12.
